Sunday at the Lake

Again a busy week last week as you were sick so we sat at home until Wednesday night then we went swimming at the gym. Thursday was again a night out eating at IHOP with your Grandfather. Your like for pancakes is amazing since you would eat them all day and night then off for frozen yogurt for desert. You actualy traded me your chocolate for my vanilla and that was a 1st. Friday we ate at home and Saturday I worked during the day and that night we went to a Birthday party for your Uncle Larry. You played and sang Country songs with guitar hero and showed off your swimming to all of the adults since the last time all you did was hold on to me. Sunday off to the Saguaro lake with all My Friends and their Famelies. You got you 1st ant and bee sting, ant on the leg and bee on the arm at the same time and you did not know which one you were more upset about. It all happened in the 1st 10 minutes. You swam with all of your new friends for hours (6 hours) in the lake and you loved every minute of it. It was hard to get you to leave but you slept all the way home. Very little sunburn just some spots on your face so I was happy taht I did better then I thought with the lotion. We went out to dinner since I was in no shape to cook. Then at home Country Videos until bed. I like the new phase of you wanting to not watch tv but you want to watch the videos and you can almost sing all your favorite songs since you have memorized the words. Your Favorites so far are Blake Shelton, Trace Adkins, Wildflower, and Alan Jackson. Can't wait to see how tired you are tonight when I pick you up. I will learn to upload photos so you have those also.

Lava Cave

What a great Sunday. I worked during the day on SAturday so we just spent Saturday night getting the flashlights and food ready for our trip on Sunday to Flagstaff and the surrounding area. We got up early Sunday and our first stop was Lamars Doughnuts on Bell and I-17 for breakfast. You slept all the way to the Deer Farm outside of Williams and we had a great time feeding all the deer and watching animals. We then went out in the woods to get to the lava cave and it was nice to eat lunch in the woods. The cave was great and nice and cool. We went about half way before you wanted to turn back and it was a great climb down in and back up with a lot of flashlights on to see our way. It was great that you wanted to even try it and you did not complain. You collected 2 rocks from the cave and numerouse gifts from the Deer Farm but you were really happy on the way back when we stopped at the underarmour outlet store in Anthem and you got a great shirt for a great price to wear hunting in September. We finished the night wityh Chinese Buffett at a new place and the food was not that great but we were tired and it worked. You also slept with me for the 2nd night in a row by sneaking in while I was sleeping. It bothered me so much that I did not even wake you up or make you go back to your bed. You were real happy this morning when I left for work and I am looking forward to tonight.

Another Great Night

You were not happy to see me at school at 3 because you were tired and wanted to play with the cars but you came around with your chips and soda at the gym. We swam for about an hour and a half with you just having fun and spending more time on the slide. You are growing older but you still want me at the bottom waiting and that makes me feel good. Healthy dinner of fish, celery, and spinach of which you ate celery small bite of fish, and no spinach. Man up and start eating vegetables. One day you will eat everything and there will never be enough to fill you. We talked and played for a long time last night and you had me bringing up country videos thta you like so you could watch. Your favorite is Wildflower by The Jane Deer Girls right now, and you still sing Kenny Chesney Uncle Crackers When the Sun Goes Down. You had issues with your big toe last night and you woke up in the middl of the night for the heating pad then you went back to sleep and you still slept this morning as I kissed you on your cheek goodbye.

A Night at Home

You and I were tired last night. We fell asleep on the floor around 4 watching tv. We had your tacos and beans for dinner with guacamole and chips. It was a slow night for us your bath then we watched some tv well wrestled then off to bed with you and I think we were both out cold within 10 minutes. You accopmlishments today included you spending time mentoring and playing with the new kids in your class and because we were both so tired you and I did not talk about the world or anything important other then our day and that was good enough for me since we have been running hard for over a week. You did say you do not want to play hockey and taht will be a topic for tonight when we are both more in tune.

Swimming Lessons

You have been taking lessons on Tuesday for over a year. I remember when you started at the pool you would not let go of me and I was not allowed to go past the rope. It took everything I had to get you in the water on your own. Within the last 6 months you swimm everywhere and last Saturday you started on the slide all by yourself while I was at the bottom waiting for you to descend. You were happy to see me when I picked you up from school and even happier to find out that we were going to have a snack at the gym before swimming. As always you went for Sprite and Chedder Sun Chips. We played with your friend Duncan until swim lessons then you wanted to eat a cheesburger from McDonals without anything on it but cheese. I told you I could make a cheese sandwich at home and you said lets go to Outback for mac and cheese and the great bread. We came home and played for about an hour before I put you to bed for the night and you were fast asleep. I really enjoyed your if I can't have McDonals I want Outback.

You and Your Tired Self

I am glad that when I got to the school to pick you up that you did not want to leave. It means that you are happy and well adjusted. I let it be your night since it was the 1st day of school and you got to pick your snacks, what you wanted for dinner, and desert. You fell asleep on the way to desert but you woke up and ate all your gellato. You have grown so much that you actually take your own shower by yourself but you are still young enough you want me in the bathroom while you do it. This year your teacher said you would be a leader since you are 1 of 4 returning and you are very happy with the responsibility they have given you. You had me crawl in bed with you this morning and lay with you until you woke up enough to wrestle then you walked me to the door to say goodbye. I was thinking back to when you 1st started to crawl. You were so happy and so determined to get to your toys that you would not give up. Please keep that determination in all you endeavors.

Where We Are Today

I know that I said that I would try and recap but so much is happening now that I thought I would just put out the everyday and put blurbs to remember the past to help stay current. Today School started again for you at Montessori, you were in Chinese Kindergarten on Saturday and you played Hockey for the 1st time on Saturday morning. It was a busy weekend but I did get my moments with you like on Friday night we laid in bed and watched Phineas and Ferb on Disney. There is nothing better then the alone times when we wrestle on the floor and eat bad food (not to much bad food). I have always enjoyed our conversations about whatever you have on your mind at any point in time. We went fishing 2 weekends ago and you caught a fish each day along with what you called Daddy lobsters (cray fish). You do not really like hockey but that is OK and I don't mind if you don't want to play since anything you do really needs to be you wanting to do it. We are going to explore a cave toward the end of the month and I can't wait to see how you do with that. I know right now you are excited about going hunting on the 1st of September and I know you will have a great time but I am fine if you don't want to go. I want you to do things because you enjoy them not because I do them. I will always try and find thinks that you like and I will always try things that I don't do so that you have an opportunity to make your own choices in life. This will be for music, movies, politics, or anything you come across that may not be in my world. I look at our world together as us trying to find our way as Father and Son. May we always be open to each others way of thinking and our choices. You told me Friday night you loved me infinity and I was the best Daddy ever. I hope you will always feel that way and understand me. Looking at the world through your eyes is a blessing to me and I want to thank you for every moment of it even if that means more time on the floor playing cars and building train sets.

The Day You Entered the World

It was a beautiful January morning and I was beyond tired from working out at Barrett/Jackson in Scottsdale. I received the call on Thursday night that contractions had started and to get to the house. I drove just a little fast but safe bouncing around in the cab of my truck so happy that I would soon be holding you. When I got to the house I laid down to sleep a few hours until the contractions got close enough for us to head to the hospital. While waiting for my stubborn Son to make his appearance I slept on the window box until you made up your mind. I remember the nurse saying push then your head crowned and the Nurse had to run out and get the Doctor because you were not going to stop and she was unprepared for your fast arrival. Finally you were taken out all way and I was able to hold you until they took you so I could cut the cord. You did not cry much and I got to clean you up some and do your footprints for the birth certificate. Holding you was a life changing moment for the both of us I am sure since you were staring in to this world with wonder as I was shedding a tear while watching you gaze unto this planet. You stayed the night at the hospital and I returned around lunch time the next day to pick you up and take you home Our home. You had some issues with formula as you started out and I would get home each night and put you in my arms in the bed, pat your bottom, sing to you until you fell asleep, and of course pass the built up gas in your stomach. We changed formulas often to try and correct the issue but I had you in my arms every night at bed time for the first few months of you life. I think that is the best sleep I have ever had with you laying there breathing so lightly that even to this day when you are with me while camping, on vacation, or staying with me while your Mom is out of town that I can still have you next to me and I can fall asleep while you wrap yourself around my arms or neck and when you finally dose of I am out like a light. I feel safe, content, and loved like a Father can only dream of. Thank you for blessing me and allowing me to be your Father.
